Demo first, buy later. Every reputable PPE supplier will send samples. If a vendor won't send samples, that's a red flag. I don't buy any safety product for more than a case lot without putting it in front of the people who'll actually use it.
Talk to the floor before you talk to finance. Your CFO sees a number. A supervisor sees a mask that won't stay seated, earplugs that itch after 90 minutes, safety glasses that fog up in the heat. Neither perspective is wrong, but the floor knows things a spreadsheet can't tell you.
Verify the spec, not just the price. When a product is cheaper than every comparable option, ask what's different. There's always an answer—thinner straps, shorter shelf life, reduced packaging. Sometimes the difference matters. Sometimes it doesn't. But you have to know what it is before you order.
